Songon “Song” An (안성언)
As a first generation college student, he received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemistry and Organic Chemistry (Mentor: Prof. Kwan Soo Kim), respectively, from Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea. He earned his Ph.D. from the Chemistry Department at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (Mentor: Prof. Karin Musier-Forsyth). After a period as a postdoctoral scholar at the Pennsylvania State University (Mentor: Prof. Stephen J. Benkovic), he joined the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) in 2011.
